David Lanz has established himself as a leader in contemporary instrumental music, setting the standards by which other pianists are judged. His new, "star-studded" album, SONGS FROM AN ENGLISH GARDEN, with sensitive solos and large-scale orchestral arrangements, celebrates the influences of the "British Invasion." On the album Lanz presents two, new original compositions, "Sitting in an English Garden" whose title was taken from the Beatles' "I am the Walrus," and "London Blue," as well as the popular classics essential to his signature sound. Accompaning Lanz and his piano are famed trumpeter Herb Alpert, organist Matthew Fisher, Matt Chamberlin and Glen Velez on assorted percussion, and bassist Tony Levin. Hearing favorites like "Bus Stop," "Tuesday Afternoon" and "I'll Follow the Sun" will stir both your memories and your soul.
