SILK AND BAMBOO, a reference to the silk strings of the Cheng (Chinese harp) and the bamboo flute (played here by Tim Wheater), was inspired by the travels of harpist Patricia Spero in China and Nepal. Incorporating Tibetan bowls, gongs and various other drums and percussive instruments into the mix, Spero captures the relaxing, peaceful quality that makes traditional music of the Far East so universally appealing. From the enchanting "Jewelled Lute" to the delicate melody of "Dark Dragon," Spero proves that she is equally adept playing traditional Chinese music as she is playing concert hall style classical music.
