SCOTTISH REFLECTIONS BY BONNIE RIDEOUT

SCOTTISH REFLECTIONS BY BONNE RIDEOUT Fiery fiddler Bonnie Rideout gravitates away from the gusto of her last couple march-oriented releases in favor of exploring Scottish music's softer side with SCOTTISH REFLECTIONS. A compilation of collaborations between Rideout and members of the Maggie's Music clan, the album includes performances from folk ensemble Hesperus, Sue Richards on harp, Maggie Sansone on hammered dulcimer, Karen Ashbrook and Paul Oorts on flute/accordion respectively and Robin Bullock on mandolin. Rideout's passion and flair for melodic beauty can be felt on many of the cuts including "The Thistle," a joyful tune based on 18th century parlor music and "Dunblane" a lilting lament about a 1996 tragedy that took place in the titular town.
