Group drumming and chanting are interwoven with environmental effects, indigenous instruments and voices on Jonathan Goldman's newest release, SACRED GATEWAYS. Sound energies swirl amidst drums that keep time with the heartbeat, providing a sonic musical environment that is almost primitive in design. Each of the six tracks is tailored to invoke specific divine energies and to work with specific elements and directions. For example, the album's version of the traditional Tibetan Buddhist chant "Om Mani Padme Hum" is Eastern influences, incorporating the element of fire and the energy of Chen Rezig. The chants are drawn from a variety of traditions including Native American, Mayan, Hindu and Hebrew.
