R. Carlos Nakai and Peter Kater have had quite a fruitful partnership - in the last decade they have been largely responsible for advancing contemporary Native American music as well as making it more accessible to a mainstream audience. It's been five years since their last release and THROUGH WINDOWS & WALLS is easily the duo's richest recording to date. Kater and Nakai incorporate multiple layers of vocals, a strategic use of percussion (to add a sense of drama to several of the tracks) and, of course, their characteristic somber flute/new-agey piano combo into nine wonderfully uplifting compositions.
