For close to 15 years, Medwyn Goodall has been contemplating the mysteries and wonders of the natural world through his music. RHYTHM OF THE ANCIENTS focuses on one corner of the globe Goodall seems to have a natural affinity with - the music of South America and the Andes. Specifically themed after the legacy of the ancient Aztec civilizations, the music features panflutes, Latin guitar, African instruments like the marimba and conga drum, piano and strings wrapped in silken ambient textures. You can almost smell the earthy fragrance of dirt in the thick mountain air as you listen to songs like "Lost City" and "Trail of Vines" with their breathy flutes and cascading melodies.
