The rainforests, wetlands and coral reefs of the world have two important things in common. They are home to an enormous percentage of the world's flora and fauna, and all three ecosystems are endangered. PRECIOUS EARTH, from the "Solitudes" series, is themed after the beauty and diversity of nature, with a focus on the importance of preservation. The music was inspired by regions of the world and particular animal species that are currently threatened. For example, the opening track "African Elephants" features gentle flute melodies accented with kalimba, a little African percussion and the sounds of birds and elephant calls. "Giant Pandas," by contrast, is awash in the sounds of the Far East. Throughout the album, the music is mellow, pleasant and full of natural beauty.
