When PLANET DRUM was originally released back in 1991, it was the realization of a dream for Mickey Hart. He had long wished to make an album that would unite drumming legends from around the world. The album spent 21 weeks atop Billboard's world charts and has the distinction of being the first recipient of the "Best World Album" award at the Grammy Awards. An equally important accomplishment lies in the album's longevity - it still sounds as fresh and stimulating as it did upon release.
