PIANO NIGHTS marks a first for Armik. He composed this album with the piano in mind, which is new territory for the veteran guitarist. Don't start thinking the fiery strains of Armik's flamenco guitar will be missing in action, however. This album has a little of everything! Piano melodies (as performed by Joe Vanelli) provide the main melody lines of the songs, around which Armik's nimble guitar strumming can found, as well as percolating Latin rumba beats, jazz textures and even a little bossa nova groove. Although one of his most experimental albums, it's also one of his richest, with plenty of vibrant instrumentation and lively rhythms that alternate between tender ballads and vivacious dance tunes.
