On PACHELBEL FOREVER BY THE SEA, one of the most enduring compositions in classical music is combined with one of nature's most constant, soothing sounds, the sea. The album opens with the tranquil sounds of the beckoning waves. This introduces a very faithful interpretation of the traditional arrangement. What follow are imaginative reworkings of the "Canon", each with subtle shadings and individual moods, gently taking the listener further out to sea. Dan Gibson's natural sounds are strikingly authentic and musician Michael Maxwell's synthesizer and guitar adaptations of the canon intrigue as well as soothe. The album closes as it began, with the familiar Pachelbel "Canon" and gentle ocean waves bringing us home.
