A journey into the "Om Zone" is a journey into meditative bliss, where soft vibrations and subtle chant soothe your mind and body. Similar in scope to his TONAL ALCHEMY album, Steven Halpern's IN THE OM ZONE offers a variety of soundscapes focusing on temple instrumentation and the universal sound of om. Included on the album are the vast, spiritually potent sounds of Tibetan and Japanese temple bowls (both rubbed and struck), light sitar on a couple of tracks, ocean waves, voice and minor rhythmic accompaniment on a few of the tracks. This is the kind of album that beckons to be played during a very introspective yoga session or for personal relaxation. The only exception would be the final two cuts, which end the album on a more upbeat (and slightly funky) note with rhythm, piano and the chant "Om Namah Shivaya."
