Ottmar Liebert's groundbreaking 1990 release NOUVEAU FLAMENCO took flamenco rhythms where nobody dared go before - into the late 20th century. What resulted was a more audience-friendly flamenco. Gone are the rough around the edges riffs and strict Gipsy/Latin feel. Liebert adds some bass guitar, tropical percussion, keyboard enhancements and a little romance for a sound that's warmer, smoother and much more melodic. Peruse the tracklist and you'll find many Liebert classics lurking in the fray: the anthem "Barcelona Night," his flamenco ballad "Surrender to Love," the festive, carefree "Santa Fe."
