This is the album that started it all - the world's first introduction to a soon-to-be trend known as "Nouveau Flamenco." Ottmar Liebert's groundbreaking 1990 release NOUVEAU FLAMENCO took flamenco rhythms where nobody dared go before - into the late 20th century. What resulted was a more audience-friendly flamenco. Gone are the rough around the edges riffs and strict Gipsy/Latin feel. Liebert adds some bass guitar, tropical percussion, keyboard enhancements and a little romance for a sound that's warmer, smoother and much more melodic. Peruse the tracklist and you'll find many Liebert classics lurking in the fray: the anthem "Barcelona Night," his flamenco ballad "Surrender to Love," the festive, carefree "Santa Fe." If you have an interest in flamenco guitar music and are adventurous enough to deviate from tradition, you owe it to yourself to have this one in your collection.
