The concepts of femininity and celebration are intertwined with the history of bellydancing; for centuries these free-form, fluidly rhythmic dances have been used for ritual and helping a woman prepare their bodies for motherhood. Thanks to a spike in popularity for the dance form in the West, bellydance is thriving, and dancers like skilled Estonian instructor Amira are paving the way for new generations of woman to discover Middle Eastern dance. This compilation, featuring tracks by Phil Thornton and Hossam Ramzy from their albums IMMORTAL EGYPT, ETERNAL EGYPT and ENCHANTED EGYPT, was selected by Amira to provide an ideal atmosphere in which to practice bellydance. The music is heavily rhythmic (in the mid-tempo range), with Persian instrumentation, a touch of funky electronica in places and synth mood in the backdrop.
