R. Carlos Nakai is the world's foremost Native American flute player. Joined here by Amochip Dabney on saxophone, keyboardist J. David Muniz and Will Clipman on keyboards, the R. Carlos Nakai Quartet explores new territory. Weaving the traditional Native flute through a contemporary jazz soundscape, Nakai takes his playing a step further. These are contemporary sounds from old traditions. Opening with "Kokopelli's Cafe," Nakai serves notice that this is a new direction we're being taken in. Traditional Native sounds, stories and sensibilities mix with guitar and saxophone on KOKOPELLI'S CAFE, the work of a talented quartet giving fans quite a ride.
