Some of the cuts on this disc have a strong traditional feel, mainly featuring the chanting of Chief Reyna against a powerful backdrop of pulsating drums and hard rattles. Even more interesting is the album's contemporary style cuts. On these, which add electric guitar, synth, organ and bass into the mix, Halpern shows that he knows how to deftly blend the elements of a shamanic healing ritual with earthy grooves.
