HEALING THE HOLY LAND, compiled by Dean Evenson and Soundings of the Planet, delves into the heart of the Middle East on a journey of peace and renewed faith. The selections on this collection consist of spiritual music from the Jewish, Christian and Islamic traditions, capturing the healing beauty that exists in their unique musical cultures. The Islamic pieces have a Persian flair to them with exotic rhythms and instrumentation indigenous to the region, including songs by The Brave and Omar Faruk Tekbilek. The Christian songs tend toward Gregorian style chanting and the Jewish selections include such beautiful music as Jai Uttal singing "Shalom" and Rafe Pearlman's Aramaic version of "The Lord's Prayer."
