CLOUD HANDS, named for a therapeutic Tai Chi/Qigong movement, is the fifth in Peter Kater's "Healing Series" of instrumental albums. Following the title's roots in the Asian arts, the music exhibits elements of Indian/Far Eastern influence, heard largely in the Mike Hamilton's minimal zen-like approach to the acoustic guitar and Richard Hardy's mystical bansuri flute tones. Peter Kater produced and composed the album, bringing his typical earthy, naturalistic quality to the compositional style. His piano is also omnipresent on the album, blending with the sparse rhythms and aforementioned instrumentation to create a sound that is spacious, light and sonically pleasing. The slow, introspective feel of the music is obviously ideal for Tai Chi or Qigong, and could also spice up meditation work or other slow-paced movement practices.
