It was about a decade ago that former Frontline Assembly bandmates Bill Leeb and Rhys Fulber decided to emerge from the realm of dark, gothic ambient music and switch gears with their album SEMANTIC SPACES. Their newly adopted sound, although still reveling in shadowy moods, had more on an Enigma-like, accessible style. Their first taste of fame, however, came with the follow-up album KARMA, which spawned the massive hit "Silence" featuring vocals from Sarah McLachlan. Moving forward, the group continued to edge toward a more mainstream direction, experimenting with such styles as ethnic fusion and dreamy pop with their subsequent albums. This greatest hits album offers a taste of evolving sound of Delerium, featuring songs from their last four albums, three new remixes and two new songs. There is quite a hodge podge of different styles of material on the album, however the result is surprisingly cohesive - even the most dated material feels fresh when sequenced with some of the more recent cuts. The remixes include a new version of "Truly" from CHIMERA and remixes of "Underwater" and "Silence" from European trance act Above and Beyond. The new singles include "Paris," which samples Pachelbel's "Canon" and "You & I" with vocals from Zoe Johnston.
