The panacean qualities of ATLANTIS ANGELIS, from Patrick Bernard, are powerful enough to make one consider this album "prozac" for the soul. From keyboard-produced panflute gymnastics to folk-edged acoustic guitar melodies to the smooth, relaxed chant-style vocals of Bernard, this spectacle of Sanskrit mantras and ethereal instrumentation evokes much appeal. The sweetly melodic five-part suite, "Song of the Universal Light" is a hypnotic journey into Eastern spirituality that soothes as much as it inspires. On the title track, which follows, Bernard's instrumentation takes a turn toward the East with synthesizer-enhanced sitars laced with the chant "Om Mani Padme Hum." ATLANTIS ANGELIS is a genre classic and should not be missed.
