A meditative journey into the origins of sound, Jonathan Goldman's THE ANGEL AND THE GODDESS pays homage to two highly sacred entities - Shamael the Angel of Sound and Saraswati the Goddess of Music (from the Western Angelic and Hindu traditions respectively). Both are beings known to use sound as a modality for healing, creation and transformation. On this illuminating recording, listeners are presented with two very different compositions. "Song of Saraswati" features chanting of the mantra "Om Namah Shardayai" ("Shardayai" is an empowered name for Saraswati) against a powerful backdrop of sacred harmonies and drone instruments. "Angel of Sound" is a multi-part track that honors the Angel Shamael through chants (regular and overtone), flute, temple bells, percussion and harmonics.
