Formerly released as RETURN TO SPIRITLANDS, ANCIENT CANYONS by John Huling is an album that sways between earthy instrumentals and encompassing ambient landscapes. Each song features a wealth of nature sounds that guides the music and, at times, acts as its theme. Some tracks, like "Trail of Memories" and "Sunrise at East Mesa," feature highly emotive synthesized atmospheres that instantly lift the heart with their soaring beauty. On the opposite side of the spectrum are "Coyote's Dance" and the solo flute piece "Canyon," which exhibit stronger Native influenced roots with more pronounced flute playing alongside the rumble of ceremonial drum beats.
