Madagascar, a mid-sized island located off the coast of Africa, is home to some of the world's most unique creatures. In fact, an overwhelming majority of the animal species located on the island cannot be found anywhere else in the world. This recording from ambient recording specialist Douglas Quin starts by taking the listener on a safari deep within the jungles of Madagascar, to experience its rich array of wildlife. The second portion of the program takes place in a different of the island's biomes - "Berenty," a spiny desert. Here, the acoustics are different (more spacious), but a plethora of exotic sounds is equally fascinating. Expect to hear the sound of lemurs (one of the few places on the planet where they flourish), and a variety of bird species like vangas, parrots, shrikes and flycatchers.
