CELTIC MEDITATIONS
Compiled from previous albums like MIST & STONE, A TRAVELLER'S DREAM and DANCE UPON THE SHORE, master of the hammered dulcimer Maggie Sansone spins rich Celtic artistry into a tapestry of traditional beauty and modern mysticism with CELTIC MEDITATIONS: INTO THE LIGHT. The accomplished musician is backed by an assortment of instrumentation including pipes, harp, flutes and percussion as she gently strums the dulcimer, which resonates with an almost medieval harp-like sound. Featuring pieces like "Skye Aire," "Mummer's March" and "Turlough O'Carolan," this release from Sansone has a gentle, relaxing quality that makes it ideal for meditation, healing arts or body work.

MYSTIC DANCE BY MAGGIE SANSONE
Despite the differing contexts in which they are commonly found, the Irish-based hammered dulcimer and the Persian santur/santoor are two very similar instruments, both sonically and physically. With MYSTIC DANCE, Maggie Sansone borrows elements from both the Irish and Middle Eastern idioms, as well as those from the medieval period, to create a sound that blends influences from multiple cultures and timeframes. As with many of Sansone's releases, the overall mood of the album is rather joyous and upbeat, especially the "Celtic Wedding Set," which is awash with happy energy. In addition to the dulcimer/santoor, the album also features backing accompaniment from an ensemble of musicians, including: Sue Richards on Celtic harp and Robin Bullock on guitar/mandolin.
