Ruben Romero's distinguished career as a Spanish, classical and flamenco guitarist spans many years and includes an impressive catalog of twenty-one CD's, television and film credits. A prolific composer and arranger, Mr. Romero's recordings reflect his flair for unique contemporary renditions of the classics as well as original compositions. His recordings are acclaimed worldwide including a feature in the 2000 Olympics. Captivating stage performances continue to dazzle audiences nationally and internationally including appearances with symphony orchestras around the U.S. His versatility as a performing artist is evident in his solo artistry as well as noted collaborations with flamenco dance troupes and other world-renowned guitar greats.

Flamenco guitar fans usually fall into one of two camps - there are those who enjoy the smoothed out, digitally enhanced vibes of Nuevo flamenco, and then there are those who believe true flamenco should be raw and acoustic. If you fall under the latter category, Ruben Romero's FLAMENCO FIRE with certainly light a fire under you. Recorded during two live performances in Colorado, this one hour set of nimble guitar playing highlights Romero's incredible virtuosity with the instrument. His playing is earthy and technically impressive, without accompaniment or any sort of electrical enhancement. Most of the material here, save for an inspired rendition of Tarrega's "Recuerdos de la Alhambra," is original material. A highlight is Romero's four part "Four Seasons of Love," which he performs with fellow flamenco guitarist Roberto Gonzalez.

Celebrations dedicated toward to the Virgin Mary are a common part of Latino spirituality in many parts of Mexico and America's Southwest. This album delves into the heart of these celebrations with a series of festive, melodious pieces that utilize the six-string guitar as a central instrument. OUR LADY OF THE GUITAR showcases the playing of three guitarists: Ben Tavera King, Frank Corrales and Ruben Romero. Some of the tracks also feature accompaniment on such instruments as the harp, marimba and accordion, which lend the pieces a tropical flair. The repertoire features unique guitar renditions of classical works by Bach and Schubert as well as warm, praiseful interpretations of sacred hymns from Latino tradition.
